MCRI Opponents First Online Video

Linked here is a Windows Media Player format version of Michigan United's (aka One United Michigan [OUM] and previously Citizens for a United Michigan) first professional video production attacking the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative. The video runs 4 minutes exactly - probably longer than anything that would ever air on TV, but it could be cut easily.

The video is average, although clearly professionally done. It begins with Dr. Frank Wu, a leading speaker on OUM's side of the issue, and ends with Governor Granholm talking about not "enshrining ... exclusivity" into the Constitution. There's not much new that's said here, but it is an interesting place for OUM to start. They are in the process of lining up the elite establishment like ducks in a row in hopes to build the credibility of the opposition - a much different type of campaign than one would expect MCRI to focus on. Clearly, every important elite group will line up against MCRI - but in many cases, like unions, the rank-and-file will not be so easy to persuade.

Thanks for heads up on the video. I was just suprised that Mary Sue wasn't in it. On the elitism note, hey, you have to start with recognizable figures, that's a fine strategy for a statewide campaign, in my mind.

I understand the strategy, and wouldn't question that they should use some identifiable characters, but the drawback is as I say.
